Rhode Island Public Schools
Commissioner Deborah A. Gist
Total Population of Students, Teachers and Schools in Rhode Island
Data summarizing the number of students, teachers and schools are presented by education level — elementary, middle, or high school. A small number of public schools have more than one level, such as kindergarten through eighth grade, and are shown as "elementary/middle schools". The schools data are also summarized by "type of school" to show the number of traditional public schools, charters (either independently operated or by a district), schools operated by the state and collaborative schools that involve multiple districts.

SurveyWorks Reports
These reports are the results of the 2010-2011 Administrators' Survey. Most schools have only a few administrators — often only one. In order to protect confidentiality, the results have been aggregated into groups of LEAs: Urban, Urban Ring, Suburban, and State Operated and Charter LEAs (LEA stands for Local Education Authority, i.e. school district or state-operated or charter school). In each report, those results are compared to the results statewide. The survey asks administrators to express their opinions and perceptions about their school's practices, issues and climate. The resulting data is designed to aid school planning and improvement.
